Galleywinter Farm was 21 acres of beautiful rolling hills, woods, and streams when purchased 25 years ago - in April 1991, named after my Arabian mare. The place is a little slice of heaven. The intervening years have seen the building of the house, the barn, the studio, and the workshop, all with our own hands and most of the wood coming from our own trees. Horses made their home here even before the house was finished. Along came the gardens, the round pen, the arena, and trails through the woods and fields. It has all been created with love and care to provide a place of serenity and beauty that seems to bring as much peace and happiness to others as it has to us. Being outdoors with the horses in this pastoral setting is therapeutic for body and soul.
Galleywinter is located at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, 4 miles from the Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway (where we trail ride), 20 miles from Charlottesville, 7 miles from Waynesboro and Crozet, and 15 miles from Staunton.
We offer retreats, farm stays, camping and horse boarding.
